Revenue Customer Service Representative

Respond to routine inquiries from taxpayers related to their Wisconsin income tax returns at our customer service desk. Interpret information found on internal tax systems, in forms, and in publications to accurately respond to customer inquiries. Provide tax forms.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Advanced knowledge of customer service techniques; excellent verbal and written communication skills; intermediate computer skills, researching skills; self-motivated; and ability to work in a team atmosphere. Duration: January through April.

A minimum of 4 hours per day will be required.

Spanish and Hmong speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.

Data Entry/
Data Verification

February through June

7:00 am - 4:30 pm

Data Entry Operators: Job Description: Enter data directly into processing software. Data is keyed from a variety of tax documents. Some positions will re-verify originally keyed documents.

Data Verification Operators: Job Description: Compare pictures of paper returns to the data captured. If they do not match, operators make appropriate corrections to the data. Some positions may involve direct key entry of documents.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Accurate standard keyboard and ten-key keyboard skills of at least 45 words per minute or 6,000 keystrokes per hour; Ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment; Ability to sit for long periods of time; Ability to work independently; Attention to detail and good eye-hand coordination.

Employees may be rotated between the two positions.

Work Hour Requirement: A minimum of 4 hours of work per day-day shift.

Revenue Tax Assistant

(Data Verification)

March 15 through June 30

7:45 am - 4:30 pm

Open, screen, sort and prepare income tax returns for scanning and data capture.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills, self-motivated; and ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Revenue Tax Representative

Late-January through June

7:45 am - 4:30 pm

Sort, review and/or resolve non-complex, routine suspended income or business tax returns and payments, open, screen, sort and route mail. Generate request for information and/or stall letters when appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: General knowledge of Wisconsin income and business taxes; excellent verbal and written communication skills; intermediate computer skills, researching skills; self-motivated; and ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Tax Representative
(Tax Operations)

Late January through June 30

Review and resolve semi-complex, routine suspended income or business tax returns and payments, issue letters requesting additional information to resolve suspended returns; review request for information, replies as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: General knowledge of Wisconsin income and business taxes; excellent verbal and written communication skills; intermediate computer skills, researching skills; self-motivated; and ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Tax Representative 2
(Collections)

Mid-January through early April

Respond to customer inquiries via the telephone and email regarding the interception of refunds against debts to other Wisconsin state agencies. This position also handles the proration of refunds per the statutes for offsetting to the agency debts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to work Independently and perform detailed research and analysis to complete proration calculations or when responding to customers internally and externally; excellent verbal and written communication skills; intermediate computer skills.

Revenue Agent
(Compliance)

Mid-February through June 30

Review and resolve complex suspended income and business tax returns and payments and handle appeals resulting from processing adjustments. Assist other permanent and limited term employees with questions related to the processing of tax returns and payments; review request for information, replies as assigned; assist with annual non-filer project correspondence and appeals.

Shipping and Mailing Associate (Laborer)

Perform manual and physical laborer duties within areas of the Department such as picking up documents, separating-boxing and delivery of items. May require lifting up to 40 lbs.
